It is plate loaded with 50 mm Olympic plates, which are not included. Primal rates the machine to a maximum weight capacity of 350 kg.

Do I need a high ceiling for it?

No. The machine is only 1325 mm tall and the user stays standing at normal height throughout, so any room that fits a standing adult fits this machine.

How does it compare with a barbell hip thrust?

It trains the same hip extension pattern, but without the bench, barbell and pad set up. Users step in, brace against the roller pad and start lifting, which saves time and keeps the movement consistent from rep to rep.
